Well Flow Testing

Well, well, well…got flow?

So, your new home has a well and you want to make sure it’s actually doing its job? A 1-hour well flow test is your answer. It’s basic, but it tells you whether your well can actually deliver enough water for your daily needs—like, you know, showers, dishes, and not living in a desert.

Here’s how it (basically) works: A water flow meter is attached to the well spigot, the water is cranked up to max flow, and then flow-rate and pressure measurements are taken every 15 minutes for an hour. If the well can handle at least 3-5 gallons per minute, you’re golden.

This test is important when buying a home because you don’t want to find out after moving in that your well’s a weakling. It gives you the peace of mind that your water flow won’t leave you high and dry.

Bonus: Longer tests are available if you want to get fancy.
